26/08: ICAN of North Texas
I mentioned in a previous post that there is a new chapter of ICAN starting in this area for women who are planning a VBAC, recovering from a cesarean, wanting to plan a more family-friendly cesarean in the future or just wanting to get more info about either. I am not sure when or where meetings will be held, but want to invite everyone to join the ICAN of North Texas yahoo group. You can do this by clicking here.
And since I can't create a post without adding a few pictures, here are C, D and A again, before and after their VBAC this past June:

Since last month when I posted about my *very exciting news* I have received several emails asking if I was pregnant, so I wanted to go ahead and fill everyone in on the details... NO, I am not! :-) My news is that several of the birth photos that I have taken in the past 1.5 years are going to be published in a new book called The Alternative Birth Anthology! A couple of my favorite authors ~ Pam England, who wrote Birthing From Within, and Suzanne Arms, who wrote Immaculate Deception II: Myth, Magic and Birth ~ will also have material in this book, so I am just really excited to actually see it in print!
I also want to give a big congrats to L, S and A because one of their very 1st photos as a new family was picked to be put on the front page of the Alternative Birth website!

17/08: Vance
Baby Vance was waterborn yesterday ~ very quickly I might add! I am so, so glad I was able to be there to photograph his birth, even if the drive up there did take a few years off of my life. (haha) I am so proud of you Amy girl! Hope you like your pictures!

Ethan:

On Monday I was priviledged to witness another home VBAC. This beautiful mama had to work so hard for her baby, but she received such wonderful support from her husband, midwives and doula throughout the labor and birth. It was very touching to see such tender loving care at such an important life event.

Speaking of VBAC, a good friend of mine is starting an ICAN (International Cesarean Awareness Network) chapter for the North Texas area, so if anyone reading this is passionate about VBAC, planning a VBAC, healing from a cesarean or hoping to have a more mother/baby friendly cesarean in the future you should definitely consider joining! I will be and will post back with more details once they are available.

Before I post the newest birth pictures I have to give a tiny bit of history on this family so you will understand just how special this birth today was... R & J's first son was born at 32 weeks gestation and spent 5 long weeks in the NICU before they finally got to bring him home. This afternoon their 2nd son was born ~ a full term, bouncing baby boy ~ that went straight into his moms arms. I am so thrilled for them and hope that when they flip through their photo album in the future it takes them right back to this incredible day.

It is August now and my July photography break is finally over! Look for many new maternity, birth and newborn images coming soon, as well as some *very* exciting news that I will be sharing in a few weeks! Until then, I hope you will enjoy these pictures of two of my own cuties enjoying their summer. It has been a busy season for my oldest daughter ~ in the past few weeks she has learned how to swim like a pro, gotten her ears pierced, noticed her 1st loose tooth and picked out a special outfit for her 1st day of Kindergarten!
